We currently teach Private Pilot (PPL) ground school in the Davis County high schools. This course is counted as a CTE credit in the Utah State Curriculum. You can see your school counselor if you are interested in registering for the course.

The following are basic requirements when looking at Private Pilot Ground School as a CTE option:

  • Students must be 16 years old when they begin ground school training. If you pass your FAA written exam the results are valid for two years.

  • Students who intend on flight training must be 17 years old within six months of beginning ground school training.

  • Flight training is optional, but preferred. Students may begin flight training during the semester of ground school directly through CSA.

  • Students who intend on flight training must have a flight physical (Aviation Medical Examiners (AME) can be found by contacting CSA or by logging on to faa.gov). A 3rd class medical is required to begin flight training, but a 1st class medical (preferred) is required to fly commercially.
